N.J. governor debate gets heated over Kirk assassination. See what Ciattarelli, Sherrill said.

New Jersey’s candidates for governor, Democrat Mikie Sherrill and Republican Jack Ciattarelli on Sundsay tangled over political violence during their first gubernatorial debate.

The event at Rider University in Lawrenceville came less than two weeks after the Sept. 10 assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The candidates were asked the candidates whether they would you support bipartisan legislation to label political violence as a hate crime in the state.

Sherrill got first crack at it, saying she advocated for more money for security for political candidates.

The candidates traded barbs over one the nation's most charged issues right now

They bought a chainsaw and trash bags. The chilling details of N.J. man’s suspected murder.

For Tamika Miller and her family, the last several months have been brutal.

When Harold “Hal” Miller Jr., her ex-husband and the father of her children, was reported missing in June, they feared the worst.

“With him missing, it was devastating because we knew he would never go off,” Miller said, fighting back tears as she spoke. “He wasn’t that type of person just to leave.”

What began as a missing-persons investigation took a dark turn as video surveillance and DNA evidence began to paint a gruesome portrait of a violent crime.

Where is Harold Miller? His family says they are devastated after learning how three people are accused of disposing of his still-missing body.

N.J. mall tried charging $10 for parking spots near the doors. Shoppers weren’t having it.

Paying to park close to the mall’s doors? Shoppers at one New Jersey mall weren’t having it, and now the revenue-making program is gone.

Deptford Mall recently quietly rolled out a “Premier Parking” program that charged drivers $10 to snag a spot near its entrances.

The spaces were marked with signs and QR codes that directed shoppers to a website, where they could enter a license plate and time slot before paying to park in the reserved front-door spots.

Shoppers blasted the idea of paying to park, and the reserved spots often sat empty.

This N.J. farmer is breaking world records. Here’s his secret to producing 30-foot-tall sunflowers.

A typical sunflower grown in the Garden State can reach up to six feet tall, at best. In the wild, they may only reach a couple feet.

But for Brian Moore, of West Amwell, there’s nothing average about his sunflowers.

Moore’s specially cultivated seeds helped break the Guinness World Record for the tallest sunflower ever recorded. It grew to an impressive 35 feet and 9 inches in Fort Wayne, Indiana, this summer by grower Alex Babich.

These brave 9/11 heroes are missing from New Jersey’s memorial and lawmakers want to fix that

The names of nearly 740 people with ties to New Jersey who died on Sept. 11, 2001, are highlighted at the Empty Sky Memorial when the sun hits it in the morning and evening.

But, not enough names are being remembered on the Jersey City monument, two New Jersey lawmakers argue.

Democratic U.S. Reps. Josh Gottheimer and Robert Menendez are using the 24th anniversary of the attacks to reignite calls to include the names of those who have since died from debris-related illnesses at Ground Zero.

Two New Jersey congressmen are using the 24th anniversary of the attacks to advocate for first responders who later died from toxic exposure at Ground Zero.

Charlie Kirk shooting: Fox commentator reacts by saying ‘They are at war with us!’

Jesse Watters, a Fox News conservative political commentator, proclaimed during a monologue on The Five that people like the shooter who assassinated conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday afternoon “are at war with us!”

“Whether we want to accept it or not, they are at war with us,” Watters said. “And what are we gonna do about it? How much political violence are we going to tolerate? And that’s the question we’re just gonna have to ask ourselves.

Jesse Watters, a Fox News conservative political commentator, called Wednesday’s shooting unacceptable and denounced some politicians and members of the media for their thoughts on the shooting as “rats.”

Massive, mysterious crack in N.J. road forces evacuations, extensive detours near major highway

Eighteen families were initially evacuated from their homes after a large crack several hundred yards long on Smith Road in Woodbridge emerged last week.

A spokesperson for Woodbridge Township said a “road displacement” was reported on Thursday on Route 440 and Smith Road between Perth Amboy border heading towards Highland Avenue. No crack in the road was noticed the day before, the mayor said.

The area of Smith Road where the crack appeared is on the east side of the Garden State Parkway and Route 9. The crack has caused a maze of detours in the area, according to a map of the detours from Woodbridge officials.

The mayor said the crack wasn't there the day before.

Netflix’s Hollywood-style studio in N.J. wins key approval to build huge 2nd phase

Netflix’s plan to turn a shuttered Army base into a Hollywood-style studio moved forward this week as local officials approved the massive second phase of the $903 million project.

The newly approved 155-acre section, the largest piece of the project, will serve as the studio complex’s main entrance and centerpiece. It will have eight soundstages, production offices and a public plaza.

The project at the historic Fort Monmouth military base will house 12 soundstages and create 1,400 permanent jobs, boosting New Jersey's economy by billions, state officials said.

This beloved 92-year-old movie theater might be coming back to life in N.J.

The Village of Ridgewood has taken the first step toward reviving the Warner Theater, the Art Deco-style movie house and downtown institution that closed in 2024 after a 92-year run.

The village council has introduced a $250,000 bond ordinance, which if adopted, would allow Ridgewood to purchase the option to buy the theater for $2.5 million, Mayor Paul Vagianos said.

Ridgewood council introduces $250,000 bond ordinance as down payment to purchase the 92-year-old Art Deco landmark and transform it into a performing arts center.
