Grateful to have dad up here for 2nd back surgery in 2 weeks. 3 of 'em since November, but never gonna stop fighting to get well & get back to living life as best I possibly can! Just typing up this thread was mentally exhausting, I'll try'n reach out to ppl soon as I hopefully start to feel better. 48 hours post op now and also grateful to have had world class care the whole time from my neurosurgeon, plastic surgeon, and rest of the surgery team. For those who don't know, this is serious since it involves trying to fix and then allow the body to heal from prolonged leaking of cerebrospinal fluid -which won't take much time Googling to learn can cause lifelong brain damage and creates a very high risk of infection leading to spinal meningitis and even death. Not trying to be alarmist, but want to explain why doing every little thing just right post op is so important.
I have faith in my medical staff here at RWJ Saint Barnabas, and know for damn sure I'm gonna put in the work when the time comes to do whatever it takes to recover from this ordeal and come out the other side of this stronger and even more determined!
Much love and thanks for all the thoughts and prayers ๐
