Partly inspired by some of the great new releases that have come our way in recent weeks, and by some of the treasures I picked up at the WFMU Record Fair two weeks ago, we’re spinning nothing but German bands on tonite’s Hard Stuff program. Some choices will be quite obvious, others maybe not so much. Tune in this evening at 6PM ET only on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio to hear what I’ve picked out for you.

Also, I’ll be guest hosting What’s Happening?!?! with later on tonite at 9PM ET, coming at you with a whole bunch of 60s garage and psych. This was supposed to happen a couple of weeks ago, but I got sick, so thanks to Mike for allowing me to reschedule with him!

💥 BROWN ACID TURNS 21! 💥

We return from a week off to celebrate new releases of all sorts. First up, we spotlight the latest installment of Brown Acid compilation series by spinning a handful of tracks off the new volume while mixing in some choice tracks from previous editions in between.

Then we’ll be playing tracks from some of the other new releases and reissues that have come out over the last month or so, from labels like and Acrobat Records.

So tune in tonite at 6PM ET to WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio to get in with the new!

Thanks to all the generous listeners who pledged WFMU during our October Fundraiser and helped us reach our Hellraiser goal! You really came through for us, and we all truly appreciate your support!

Not ones to rest on our laurels, we’re thrilled to bring you the WFMU Record Fair this weekend! We’ll be returning to the Metropolitan Pavilion for a two-day fair, on Saturday November 8th and Sunday November 9th. Be an early bird and catch the worm! Advanced tickets are available on the station’s website. The Pavilion is located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, at 125 West 18th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues. Hope to see you there!

Unfortunately, due to some tech issues on my end of things, I’m not able to bring you a new episode of Hard Stuff this week. But I WILL be spinning some tunes this evening on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio! I’ll be guest hosting What’s Happening?!?! with from 9-11 ET, so be sure to tune in for 2 hours of great 60s action! And be sure to join me next week for the second of our two annual “Brown Acid” episodes on next week’s show.

“Drop In Presents: Happy Birthday Uncle Bob #2! with Frank In Queens”

TODAY! Saturday, November 1st, 6pm - 7pm
on Drop-In (on Rock’n’Soul Radio stream)

It’s time for the 2nd annual Robert Pollard birthday edition of Drop In! Once again, Frank In Queens will attempt to pick an hour’s worth of tunes from Guided By Voices frontman Bob Pollard’s 40+ year career, which is no easy feat! This year he’ll be concentrating on GBV’s early years prior to becoming indie rock gods, and the material released during the “classic lineup” reunion era. So crack a beer (or three) and tune in to Rock And Soul Radio to pay tribute to everyone’s “Uncle Bob”.

On this episode of Hard Stuff, we spotlight drummer, singer, and songwriter Peter Dunton. Peter is probably best known for his work with T2, but the years leading up to the release of their sole but highly regarded 1970 LP “It’ll All Work Out In Boomland” were the busiest of his career. Tune in on Tuesday for tracks by the likes of Please, Bulldog Breed, and of course, T2.

Also,we’re in the final week of the October Hellraiser Fundraiser, so if you have not yet pledged your support to WFMU, this is the time to do so.

It all happens tonite at 6PM ET, only on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio!

It’s Singles Going Steady week all across WFMU! And that means it’s nothing but 7”s on tonite’s Hard Stuff program; 6PM ET on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio. It’s an annual tradition as part of our yearly October Hellraiser fundraising efforts to raise enough money to keep WFMU going for the rest of the year.

We’re a little over $45,000 away from our goal of $360,000, which is great with a little over a week to go, but we need your help to get us over the finish line. If you haven’t already, please consider pledging your financial support to WFMU WE’ve got swag aplenty to send your way for your generous donation, which you can check out on the Hard Stuff show page.

It’s Week 2 of the October Hellraiser Fundraiser all across WFMU. We have a goal to meet of $360,000 to raise, and while we’ve made excellent progress so far (we’re 65% of the way there), we still have over $100,000 to raise by the end of the month to make sure we stay afloat for the rest of the broadcast year.

If you haven’t already, please consider supporting the Hard Stuff program and WFMU with a donation. We have some great swag available for you to chose from depending on your pledge level (some of it shown in this post), and you can head on over to the link in the bio to make your contribution. It would be tremendously appreciated by your gracious host and all involved at the mighty WFMU. Help keep us freeform, independent, and commercial free for the rest of the year!

Oh! And of course we have an all new episode of Hard Stuff for you this evening at 6PM ET on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio, so be sure to tune in for that!

This week is the first Hard Stuff show of the WFMU 2025 Hellraiser; our end of the year, month-long, lowkey fundraising event. Our goal is to raise $360,000 by October 31st to help keep us afloat for the rest of the broadcast year.

In an effort to meet the goal, there will be special programming all across WFMU and its affiliated streams all month long, and Hard Stuff will be no exception. Tonight we’re doing one of our periodic spotlight shows, and this time we’ll be focusing on one if the most important bands of the 60s, The Yardbirds. We’ll also be taking this opportunity to pay tribute to Chris Dreja, a constant of their line-up, who passed away on September 25th.

Come have a rave up with Frank In Queens, tonite at 6PM ET, only on WFMU’s Rock And Soul Radio!

The Hellraiser is here! The Hellraiser Fundraiser runs through October and is important for us since it gets us over the hump of the winter months – that time of year when the funds we raised in our spring marathon are beginning to dwindle. There are DJ specials, new swag, and events that will happen through out the month celebrating WFMU! If you can, help us out with a donation and grab one of the two new T-shirts exclusive to this fall campaign. Thank you! Donate here: https://pledge.wfmu.org/donate?step=landing

TONITE!!!!

I’ll be filling in for on the Rock And Roller Derby show on the WFMU mothership from 8-10PM ET. It’s my first time hosting on the terrestrial broadcast, and I’m totally excited to finally be doing it.

Keeping up with the vibe of Suzy’s show, I’ll be spinning two hours worth of the finest garage, psych, punk, powerpop, and just good ol’ fashion rock and roll; a little different than what I normally spin on a weekly basis, but I always welcome the opportunity to stretch out a bit with these fill-ins!

Much thanks to Suzy for giving me the nod while she’s off doing rock and roll things out of town this week! Hope you tune in!
