WOW! An incredible and rare "gigantic jet", a type of lightning that shoots upwards from a thunderstorm, was caught on camera above Mexico from the International Space Station recently! Incredible lightning barrage late yesterday near Seymour, TX. This is a 10 image stack of 2.5 sec exposures via drone (thus the slight blur to the ground due to strong winds). I missed the closest ones that struck near my vehicle with no time difference between strike and thunder. There was one strike so close where the drone was flying i immediately looked to see if it made it. One of these days I’ll catch one of those uber close ones! Most of these strikes were in the 1-2 mile out range.
