Hajia Ahmed Jumai Saida, wife of the renowned Legendary Alhaji Ahmed Adam, has appealed to the organizers of the Northern Movie Awards Gh to create a dedicated category for female actors – complete with its own car prize.

According to her, many actresses feel uncomfortable competing with men for the 'Overall Best Actor' award because the men have the freedom to move around, visit markets, and campaign for votes on the streets – something married women, especially, cannot comfortably do.

She stressed that the region has many hardworking and talented actresses who can compete strongly if given a fair and appropriate category, but their motivation reduces when they are placed to contest directly with male actors.

Hajia Jumai Saida further stated that, based on the year under review, she believes she has worked harder than Aborimaham and any other actor. She also condemned the practice of actors begging for votes in the streets and markets, saying it would be more dignifying if such appeals were made respectfully to well-to-do individuals instead.

During the launch of the Northern Movie Awards Gh, renowned actor Zimboo De Don offered a brilliant suggestion to the organizers. He proposed a strategic collaboration with a TV station in Tamale to help promote nominees’ flyers daily and boost voting engagement.

According to him, this initiative would serve as a better alternative to the current trend where nominees move from market squares to the streets seeking votes, a practice he believes undermines their value.

Meanwhile, nominations are officially open and will close on 5th December. All contestants are advised to submit their entries through the scheme’s official website.
