The latest episode of Vocal Fry features lots of throat singing, some Sun City Girls, a little Crystal Beth, Rev. Fred Lane, and the wildest auction chant this side of Alpha Centauri. Four out of five psychiatrists recommend it. Podcast at WFMU.org
Sometimes these home-shot videos are the best - the intimacy of this khöömei in 3 different registers is wonderful. https://buff.ly/2ZVjqKX

When she was 11 years old, Sofia Shkidchenko appeared on the TV show Ukraine's Got Talent and blew minds with her powerful, deft yodeling voice. I enjoy these talent shows because they host a lot of artistic skills with long traditions that are mostly out of view but remain deeply embedded in our cultures. Sofia is now running her own YouTube channel. She still yodels and also sings jazz and other music.
