Please join Gateway SHRM for our annual Holiday Party on Thursday, December 5th, 2024, 5:30 to 7:30. This is a great opportunity to network with your fellow Gateway members!

In 1992, Captain Mark Lee, Sr. of the JC Fire Department created the Jersey City Fire Department Christmas Fund Drive, collecting toys and clothing for local children in need. In 2014, Captain Lee passed away from 9/11 illnesses. In his honor, his family, along with his brother and sister firefighters are continuing his tradition of helping less fortunate children experience the joy of the holidays.

Remember, one small gift can make a world of difference to a child. In the spirit of the holiday season, we request that you bring an unwrapped toy or clothes (for ages 1 to 17) valued at $50 or above, in lieu of a $50 fee for the party. All donations will be donated to The JCFD Capt. Mark Lee, Sr. Toy Drive.

Our meeting will be held at Dorian’s Restaurant, 555 Washington Boulevard, Jersey City, NJ. This location is reachable via the Hudson Bergen Light Rail Newport stop, the PATH Newport stop; or there are parking lots in the area. Parking is available at the mall parking lot on Mall Drive West, which is to the right of the restaurant.

Unpacking Trauma – Informed Workplace Culture & HR Practices
While many organizations have embraced using trauma-informed practices, it may be challenging to start implementing trauma-informed workplace policies. Using trauma-informed HR Practices provides a concrete opportunity to embed trust, transparency, safety, and collaboration into everyday practices.
This presentation aims to:

1) define trauma- informed care in the workplace
2) unpack it's connection to HR practices
3) provide tangible next steps to incorporate in HR practices

PRESENTER: Aneesa Holliday-Dingle is a licensed social worker (LSW) for the state of New Jersey where she has provided over 15+ years of clinical social work services to individuals with chronic and persistent emotional and physical care needs. Aneesa is also an Emotional Wellness Consultant & Training Facilitator with Decolonizing Therapy, LLC. Her work aims to provide an inclusive and healing space for marginalized communities; ensuring their lived experiences are affirmed and their emotions are validated. It is her belief that when centering healing we must discuss how systems are designed to keep you unwell- from the correlation between PTSD and heavy policing in communities of color, to exploring the connections between health care disparities and environmental racism, ableism, intergenerational trauma, etc. Everything is connected; and as professionals when we refuse to address the impact systems have on creating individual and communal dis-ease we have consciously and unconsciously created an incubator of harm.
WHERE: Dorian’s – 555 Washington Boulevard, Jersey City, NJ This location is reachable via the Hudson Bergen Light Rail Newport stop, the PATH Newport stop; or there is a parking lot to the left of the restaurant on Mall Drive West.

• What's the difference between retention elements and engagement elements?
• You've issued an employee satisfaction survey... NOW WHAT?
• Learn about creative, sustainable, and cost-effective ways to engage and retain your employees
• Engage employees while keeping your budget neutral or low cost.

WHERE: Our meeting will be held at Dorian’s Restaurant, 555 Washington Boulevard, Jersey City, NJ.
