Hello everyone! This page has not been active since the print magazine Now & Then took a hiatus in 2016. We are happy so many fans have continued to follow this page in our absence, and we are excited to announce the relaunch of Now & Then as a digital magazine with a new title: Appalachian Places. We plan to launch the digital magazine this summer.

The launch of Appalachian Places will include a retrospective article about Now & Then and its contributions to highlighting the issues, people, and places in Appalachia.

Longtime readers of Now & Then are invited to share here their thoughts and memories associated with the magazine. Selected quotes may be used in the retrospective article, so be sure and include your name and the city or area where you reside. Please share this post with other Now & Then fans!

The East Tennessee State University Appalachian Studies program is set to launch an online magazine later this spring. Appalachian Places will continue the program’s long literary tradition of highlighting the people, places, issues and themes relating to the Appalachian region.
