You have about 15 seconds before someone hits Skip Intro.

Most title sequences don't survive that window. They're built by opening software and playing with visuals before anyone's thought about the story.

The masters never worked that way. Saul Bass used titles as a psychological on-ramp into the film. Maurice Binder built a 10-second motif that defined James Bond for 60 years. Kyle Cooper made title design feel dangerous before a single frame of story played.

None of them were thinking about software. They were directing the first scene.

The real question isn't how you animate a font. It's why that font, for that story. Skip that question and you're building wallpaper, not a title sequence.

Photogrammetry has one weakness Gaussian splats don't: it turns fur, thin objects, and reflections into broken mesh.

Splats skip the mesh entirely. They're built from millions of tiny ellipsoids, and something called spherical harmonics tells each one what color to show depending on the angle you're viewing it from. That's why they handle reflections photogrammetry never could.

Clinton Jones (Pwnisher) spent years shooting photogrammetry before splats changed his mind. Now he's teaching the full pipeline in a new ActionVFX Academy course: capture with a phone, DSLR, or drone, process into a splat, then bring it into Unreal Engine, Nuke 17, or After Effects.

The best thing you can learn from a VFX supervisor isn't a decision. It's why they almost made a different one.
