LOOKING FOR WOMEN IN SMALL BUSINESS

In the March 2026 issue of Johnstown Magazine, we are going to once again shine a spotlight on "Women in Small Business" and we want YOU to tell us about her! Do you know a woman who owns and operates or manages a small business in our community?

From cafes to coffee shops, bookstores to boutiques, non profits to nurseries, and everything in between?

Who runs the world?
Tell us about her!

We just need her name and the name of her business. We will do the rest. And yes, we can think of some right off the top of our heads but we want to hear about her from you!

Send your nominations starting today to [email protected]. Deadline to submit a nomination for the 2026 Johnstown Magazine Women in Small Business Spotlight is MONDAY, DECEMBER 15!

WHILE WE WAIT FOR OUR DECEMBER ISSUE TO GET HERE...

Why not participate in our next "Assignment Johnstown?"

What's love got to do... got to do with it?

Johnstown Magazine is looking for love!

We want to read and see local love stories. In this season of love, family and togetherness, we think it’s the perfect time to ask you -- our readers to help us with a feature showing what love means right here at home.

Help us remind people that love comes in many forms and has many definitions. Sure, we are looking for true local “love stories” and original photographs. But we also are looking for the unexpected stories and photos – photos that range from that blanket your grandmother knitted you to your grandmother herself. We want to see newly engaged couples to people who have been together 60 years.

If what you define as love is your back porch with a cold beer or hot coffee, having your entire family with you for dinner, Sunday spent in church, Saturday at the races, a quiet walk on the trail, or a noisy night at the brewery with your besties, or simply hanging out on the couch with your dog watching Netflix, we want to see that. If you love it, share it.

Every photo or story submitted should answer the simple yet complex question “what is love?” What does love mean to you, how do you define love most? We want to know what love is -- and we want you to show us (with apologies to Foreigner!)

And we want to share how our area defines love with everyone who reads Johnstown Magazine.

The photos and short stories should be outside the current holiday season, although we will hold on to any item that doesn't fit the
subject for later publications if applicable.

Readers are encouraged to send submissions directly to our managing editor's inbox at [email protected].

In the subject line write “JM Love.” Submissions are being accepted right now through Friday, December 12, 2025

Show us what and who you love!
It's your assignment, Johnstown!

And remember....we love ya'

HAPPY SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY!

Shop local. Eat local. Buy local. Support local!

Small Business Saturday is an annual event on the Saturday after Thanksgiving that encourages people to patronize local and small independently owned businesses.

The purpose of the day is to support and boost sales for small, independent businesses during the holiday shopping season, as well as throughout the year.

Did you know Small Business Saturday also...
Helps communities thrive by keeping money local.
Contributes to job creation.
Supports local services like schools and parks through local tax revenue.

How you can participate:
Shop and eat today at local, independent businesses here in Johnstown and in all of Cambria County. The Mom and Pops stores and the independently owned restaurants. Remember, every dollar you spend at a local business helps keep that business local!

And while you're at it, remember, Johnstown Magazine is also a local business that employs local writers and photographers - and a subscription to your favorite local magazine written and photographed by your neighbors, loved ones, and friends makes a great holiday gift!
