The Old Hospital on College Hill in Williamson, West Virginia, opened in 1928 and served the community for decades as the region’s primary medical facility. It treated miners, families, and emergency cases until its closure in 1988, leaving behind abandoned wards and operating rooms frozen in time.

Today, the restored building operates as a historic landmark and paranormal destination.

The hospital is known for reports of shadow figures, disembodied voices, and unexplained footsteps echoing through the old patient floors. Many investigators believe former patients and staff still linger in the halls, especially in the surgical and psychiatric areas.

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, West Virginia, opened in 1864 and was designed to house 250 patients but eventually held more than 2,400 at its peak.

Originally built to offer humane treatment to the mentally ill, overcrowding and poor conditions led to decades of suffering within its walls. The massive Gothic structure closed in 1994 and now stands as a preserved piece of psychiatric history.

The asylum is renowned for its intense paranormal activity, with reports of apparitions, screams, and objects moving on their own. Many believe the restless spirits of former patients still wander the long, decaying corridors.

The West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville operated from 1876 to 1995 and was one of America’s most violent prisons. Built in Gothic Revival style, its stone walls once held murderers, thieves, and some of the state’s most dangerous inmates. Over its 119 years, the prison saw riots, escapes, and nearly 100 executions by hanging and electric chair.

The penitentiary is infamous for its hauntings, with reports of shadow figures, screams, and phantom footsteps echoing through the cell blocks. Many believe the tortured spirits of former inmates still roam its dark halls.

Built in 1856 by abolitionist George Willison Adams, Prospect Place in Trinway, Ohio, served as a family mansion and a stop on the Underground Railroad. Hidden rooms beneath the home once sheltered escaped slaves, and the house now stands restored as a museum preserving its rich history.

Prospect Place is said to be haunted by shadow figures and disembodied voices. Visitors often report cold spots, footsteps, and ghostly apparitions watching from the upper windows.
