Good Monday morning

So I’m working on an order of 17 tapes for a client. The first four I put in were broken. Of the next 8 tapes I was only able to get about 1/3 to 1/2 of what was on those tapes and out of 12 Tapes. I had one that I was able to capture the whole tape

This order is unusual. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen so many types break in one order, but I do see more tapes, breaking and having playback issues more frequently.

So if you’re reading this and you think I’d really like to have my movies preserved so I can watch them before they get in this condition. I hope you’ll call me instead of waiting for another day. By the way, just looking at the tapes before I put them in a camcorder they look perfectly fine. They look like they would play just like all the others. It’s only when I start playing them that they actually break so you cannot tell just by looking at your Tapes. That can be very deceiving.

The order I'm working on now -- almost 1/4 of the tapes -- damaged or broken

Can I repair - sometimes - but it's tedious and doesn't always work. The cost to repair will be higher than the cost to convert the tape

For you guys who tell me your procrastinators - I hope you'll read this post carefully

While you wait and wait and wait and wait and wait -- the tapes aren't going to. Those tapes will do what the they are going to do. Which is decay - break - rot

Are you certain you want to think about this some other time --- For some of you - you'll just simply never act. You'll mean to. You'll wish you had -- but you won't.

These type posts for me are really uncomfortable. I want to keep you informed. I want to help. But I'm being brutally honest here - for some of you who keep waiting and waiting and waiting -- it starts to feel like I'm begging you to let me convert digitize your memories. I don't like being that guy

I really do want to help -- but again -- you don't want me to pester or bug you do you ? You keep saying I'm going to. I want to do this -- but that's as far as you go Im ready and I'll work with anyone as best I can I guarantee youll get my best effort.

So a few years ago, I went to see a client I was selling insurance at the time

When I got to my client’s business, he was in a hurry and was leaving and he said hey leave that stuff and I’ll look at it

I asked him where he was going and he said he was going to a grizzlies game and he asked if I ever went and did I like the grizzlies I told him that I didn’t go, but then I would like the grizzlies

He said next time you come I’ll have some tickets for you

I really didn’t think much about it but the next time I went, my client did in fact have grizzlies tickets for me

So my wife and I and my dad we’re gonna go but my mom ended up being sick so my dad didn’t get to go

So my wife and I went and we were walking around we were escorted up to the team box the team box, THE GRIZZLIES team box

It was really fancy and a bit intimidating everyone in suits and some high rollers

My client had to go to another part of the building and he said just have fun. I’ll be back in a bit so I’m standing in the grizzlies team box with my wife and the door opens and in walks Jerry West. Yeah, that Jerry West the grizzlies general manager also he is the NBA profile photo the guy taking the shot that Jerry West Hall of Famer.

So Jerry West walks up and introduces himself. He asked me he had. I’ve been there before he asked me if I was having a good time he asked who I had with me. I introduced my wife and I told him that my Dad was supposed to come along, but my mom was sick so we didn’t get to make the trip

Jerry West said oh man I’m sorry I hate that

He said Jerry West said where’s your dad right now? I said he’s at home with my mom.

Jerry West said let’s calling so we took out a phone and I called my dad and I said dad I’m in Memphis at the grizzlies game and Jerry West wants to speak to you

I think my dad wasn’t quite convinced that it was Jerry West until Mr. West got on the phone and started talking to dad

Jerry West took a seat, put his feet up on the back of a sofa and talk to my dad for about 10 minutes on the phone

I’m not sure my dad really believed that it was Jerry West until I came home with the signed autograph from the stuff that I was given at the game

Definitely a memory of my lifetime
