To anyone in Lee County or the surrounding area who gets their internet service through PVEC Fiber/Scott County Telephone Cooperative, they offer TV packages with local channels in case you didn't know! It's called SFN TV Now and it's an app you install on your Roku or Firestick. All you have to do is contact them and they'll let you try it free for 30 days to see if you like it. I recently switched from paying around $170 per month for Dish to paying only $85.99 for the SFN TV Now Core Package! As you can see in the first photo below, they also have a smartphone app that allows you to watch TV on your phone! Just a heads up if you're paying too much for another service and you'd like to try a cheaper alternative!

I'm glad this video was able to generate so much renewed recognition of Connie because she didn't deserve what happened to her. When I saw this footage recorded on a tape, I knew it deserved to be put out there to tell her story to even more people and to show who she was. Other than a typed news article found on Google (possibly from the early days of the internet in the mid-90's) and a newspaper scan, this appears to be the only existing video of her story online. It currently has over 28,000 views as I type this post.

Here's a good example of what could happen to your home video tapes and why you should get them digitized as soon as possible! Your tapes may be perfectly fine for the next 20 years, or they may start shedding just like this one within the next few years. Some tape brands are more susceptible to this happening sooner than others, so it's really hard to know when it may begin. It's best not to wait around until it does!

Did you know some 8mm film had the ability to record audio? Here's a segment of a Super 8 sound film and as you can see, there are two magnetic sound strips on both edges of it. I currently don't have the ability to digitize sound from 8mm films with the equipment I'm using, unfortunately, but I can still digitize them for you as silent films if you simply want the ability to watch them. Hopefully, I can eventually obtain the equipment necessary to capture the audio.

47 Video8 tapes, 40 VHS tapes, and 11 Super 8 film reels digitized! There's so much footage here, it took a USB hard drive to fit it all onto! Over 700GB of video files here, I believe.

I couldn't be happier to finally have an 8mm film editor/viewer! I believe this one may be from the 1940's, so it's not something you see every day! This will make cleaning film so much easier and faster with the ability to hand-crank the films back and forth as I wipe them down. Cleaning film before digitizing is very important, as it removes decades of dirt and fibers so that it doesn't show up in the footage.

My story for making the decision to start digitizing home videos for people, goes back to a few years ago when I decided I should digitize my very own home video tapes before they got any older. I did heavy research on the best methods to transfer tapes to digital in high quality and I invested in the equipment to do so. During my research into the subject, I also learned that most of the major digitizing companies that are out there do poor quality work and not everyone is comfortable shipping their tapes off to them. With that in mind and knowing nobody else was offering high quality digitizing services locally, I made the decision to offer it myself since I had the capability to do so. I know that I've saved many people from ending up with poor quality transfers/service from distant, alternative options and it's a great feeling!
