📢 Carl Junction High School Athletic Update 📢
​Carl Junction High School announced two new head coaching appointments on Thursday for the upcoming 2026-2027 athletic calendar year and beyond. Joey Ballard has been named the next head baseball coach for the Bulldogs, and Corey Clingan is set to take over as the head boys golf coach.
​Congratulations to both coaches on their new roles! 🐾🔴⚪

The St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals begin their interleague I-70 series tonight at Kauffman Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM CT.
​The matchup features a pair of left-handed starting pitchers: Matthew Liberatore (3-3, 4.71 ERA) takes the mound for the Cardinals, while Noah Cameron (3-4, 4.11 ERA) starts for the Royals. You can listen to the game on AM1230 the talker!

Missouri Southern State University baseball center fielder Brayden Luikart has been named to the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II Gold Glove Team.
​The annual awards, selected by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings, recognize the top defensive players in collegiate baseball.

Pittsburg State University softball player Heather Arnett has joined the Florida Vibe of the Professional Softball League.
​The four-time All-American is scheduled to make her debut tonight in Kansas City as the Florida Vibe face the Kansas City Diamonds.

Tough break at home last night Jailbirds fans. ⚾️💔
​The Joplin Jailbirds dropped a high-scoring battle to the Clarinda A’s, finishing with a 16-11 deficit for their fifth loss of the season.
​The A's came out swinging, jumping to an early 8-0 lead in the first three innings. But our boys didn't back down without a fight! In the bottom of the third, Landin Midgett sparked the offense with an RBI single, followed closely by a clutch two-RBI single from Jose Gomez to put 3 runs on the board and breathe some life back into the ballpark. 🙌🔥
​Clarinda's bats stayed hot down the stretch to secure the win, but the Jailbirds are still very much in the hunt. We currently sit at the No. 4 seed in the MINK League standings with a solid 7-5 record.

Goal smashed! 🎯 The inaugural Newton County Co****le Competition kicked off on Friday with a mission to support the Sheriff’s ‘Shop with a Deputy’ program. While organizers initially aimed to raise $2,000, the community stepped up big time—shattering that goal by over 50% to bring in more than $3,000 for a fantastic cause.

⚾️ Heartbreak at Joe Becker Stadium last night. 💔
​Despite out-hitting Carroll 14-6, the Joplin Jailbirds dropped a tough one, falling 10-9 to the Merchants in game one of our two-game series.
​The bats were absolutely alive, but we just couldn't quite close the gap. We know these boys have the grit to bounce back!
​Get some rest, Jailbirds fans—we’ve got game two coming up, and we need you loud and proud to help us split the series! 🐦🔥
