Randy Turner, publisher and editor of Inside Joplin, Inside Joplin Obituaries and the Turner Report, was an award-winning reporter and editor for the Carthage Press and Lamar Democrat, working for various southwest Missouri newspapers from 1977 through 1999. Following his newspaper career, he was a middle school English teacher in the Joplin R-8 and Diamond R-4 school districts. Inside Joplin and Inside Joplin Obituaries were launched in 2013.

This Afghan refugee helped the U. S. fight the Taliban and has made a living as a truck driver since escaping Afghanistan. Now he is in the Greene County Detention Center after being caught in an ICE sweep and fears being sent back to Afghanistan. The Department of Homeland Security claims he never expressed any fear of returning to Afghanistan.

He says no one ever asked him.
