Missouri Southern KGCS - TV KGCS is the television station at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. Thousands of students have gone through the program in the past 37 years.

The station that started as a cable-access channel in Joplin in 1984 and has grown to a digital broadcast station serving more than 167,000 households in the region. Throughout the years, our mission has remained the same – providing valuable hands-on opportunities for Southern broadcast students and serving as an outreach with programming for the Joplin region.

Discovery Days at Missouri Southern allow students to explore their program of interest in an immersive, one-on-one environment. The Justice Studies Discovery Day is next Wednesday, October 15th! This includes Criminal Justice, International & Political Affairs, Law Enforcement, and Military Science. Students will have an opportunity to tour the facility, see the equipment, and personally meet our faculty & staff.

KGCS has served Missouri Southern State University and the Joplin community since 1984. The station that started as a cable-access channel in Joplin in 1984 has grown to a digital broadcast station serving more than 167,000 households in the region. Throughout the years, our mission has remained the same – providing valuable hands-on opportunities for Southern broadcast students and serving as an outreach with programming for the Joplin region.
