For all those that knew my Mother, I know she was a beacon of joy and excitement. A woman who was not afraid to say yes to an adventure, a side road, or a tourist trap. This morning at about 5am, that beacon has dimmed and gone out.
She battled against pancreatic cancer for 6 frustrating and strenuous months. Frustrating only because she had to cancel so many plans and trips and time she wanted to spend with friends and family. As we all know she never went out without doing things her way. So while it hurt to see her silently suffering, it was her choice to throw in the towel against a fight which she felt she couldn’t win, and our duty to honor that. Ultimately the cancer, complications from the treatments, and hurdles toward recovery would block her from living her best life. She wanted to keep riding, keep seeing new lands, and keep filling out her logbook. It did not seem possible, so this time, her body forced her to be still.
Our hearts will be heavy and eyes will flood with tears. The weight will become lighter, and will begin to see clear again. She helped to spark light in all of our lives. And I ask each and every one reading this to keep shining and moving forward.
We will keep everyone posted on the funeral arrangements soon. Thank you to all who have been present and sending love and prayers. Everything matters, all will be well.
