For 41 years, the Juneau community has come together to welcome our legislators back to the Capital City. This event wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our financial contributors, gift donors, and the organizations that help make it happen. Capital Students, Capitol Visits. Exploring 3 branches of government.

Juneau 8th grade students spent a day at the Capitol, State Office Building and Dimond Courthouse learning about the branches of state government. Students met with Legislators, Governor, Lt. Governor and/or staff. After lunch, students participated with judges, volunteer attorneys and staff in a mock arraignment to familiarize them with the judicial process.

🥳The Alaska Committee is now planning for the 41st Annual Community Welcome Reception for legislators and staff of the 2025 Alaska State Legislature. We are hosting this Reception at Centennial Hall.🥳

Our plan is to assemble gift bags as we have done in previous years along with hosting a welcome event. We ask that you consider contributing either money or an item for the gift bag.

Members from the Alaska Committee were there to Welcome visitors off the Norwegian Bliss this morning. The were happy to welcome them to Alaska’s Capital City!

The Assembly Building is a 1930’s era apartment building that was later converted to offices. It is a 3 story building with parking in the basement adjacent to the Alaska Capitol. The Juneau Community Foundation, Capitol Fund purchased the building and gave it to the Alaska Legislature. The Legislature decided that the best use of the building was to remodel it for housing for legislators and staff during the annual legislative sessions. Jensen Yorba Wall Architects was retained to design the remodel and Dawson Construction was selected as the General Contractor/Project Manager. The project consists of 33 apartment with a mixture of Studio and 1-Bedroom units. The project was completed in time for occupancy prior to the 2024 legislative session.
