New data from a Hub Entertainment Research study indicates that about two-thirds of moviegoers expect streaming at home to become a regular part of their consumption of new movies. They also found that those people with smart TVs upgraded their home viewing set-up by purchasing new smart TVs in 2020 or later (40%).

This is a great article that discusses viewing trends and content strategies for VOD, as reported by Ampere. SVOD services’ subscriber numbers are typically driven by the quality of their original content and exclusive titles, while AVODs’ have been driven by offering high volumes of non-exclusive content from major studios. Not surprisingly, AVODs are starting to narrow the content-quality gap by investing in their own original content to differentiate their offerings and reduce reliance on licensed content.
