A question came up on another social networking site.

Do you really need a DJ at your wedding?

The answer is NO. I am sure that may surprise many of you, as this comes from a DJ.

The reality is that the only requirements for a wedding are a bride, a groom and an officiant.

Everything else is optional.

So why are weddings so lavish and elaborate?

The reality is... because we want them to be. A wedding reception is the first opportunity a bride and groom have to present themselves as a new unit to society (their family and friends).
