After more than 230 monthly issues-- spanning nearly 20 years-- the 'Journal' as it has come to be known, has come to its conclusion. Economic conditions, rising costs and the decline in print media have all contributed to its end. The October 2024 issue will be the last, and we would like to thank all of the people and businesses who have worked with us along the way. We wish you all success moving forward. It has been a privilege.

Decades of Lake Celebrations
“Christmas Through the Generations” is the theme for Lake of the Ozarks Christmas Parade on
Saturday, December 10 at 1:00 p.m.. This 38 th edition kicks off at the junction of Hwy 242 where
entries are staged to parade down Bagnell Dam Boulevard toward the dam.
Each year this Lake of the Ozarks Christmas celebration offers the Bagnell Dam Strip
Association an opportunity to give back to the community and invites everyone from the area to
enjoy the parade to the Bagnell Dam, “where the Lake began.”
“Through the Generations” suggests changes over the decades and that has been the story of the
Lake of the Ozarks Christmas Parade’s evolution as well. This year is no different adding
something new to the familiar. As in the past, the Marine Corps League Honor Guard sets the
pace and presents the flag, opening to the Grand Marshal leading an assortment of entries in
three categories: Business, Civic Organizations, Youth/Church Groups. Santa makes his parade
appearance as the finale, and leads the spectators to Luby’s Plaza for the Sweets Table and hot
beverages while Santa hears out the children’s requests, bestowing gift bags on each.
Through a people’s choice nomination, the Grand Marshal honor goes to Phyllis Marose for her
decades of involvement.
New this year is a reviewing stand for live public broadcasting during the parade. From the stand judges will review the entries and make the determination of first place winners in each of the three categories with a cash prize of $150. A “Best Depiction of Theme” winner will earn a cash prize of $250. Prizes will be presented at Luby’s Plaza following the parade. Entries are still available at www/lakechristmasparade.com with a fee of $25 for individual entries and $100 for car clubs and other multiple entries.
