Fifteen years ago, we were two kids straight out of college trying to figure out how to turn our skills and passions into something real. We didn’t know if it would work. We just knew we wanted to try.

We worked from living rooms, coffee shops, and anywhere we could plug in a laptop. We traded video services for office space. We bought a recording studio downtown… and eventually sold it to pivot again. We moved to Portage Road. We hauled gear in our cars until we finally bought a production van. We traveled across the world to tell stories we believed in.

The journey has had both ups and downs, but every turn has shaped who we are and what Overneath has become.

Today, 15 years later, we’re creating some of our strongest work yet. We’re seeing real growth. We’re surrounded by a team we’re proud of, and supported by a community that’s been with us through every chapter.

We are grateful for the privilege of doing this... For the people who worked with us, worked for us, took a chance on us, trusted us, challenged us, and cheered us on.

Happy 15th birthday to Overneath. Here’s to the next chapter. 💙

We had the privilege of producing this anthem video for Southwest Michigan Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative (SWMPQIC), an organization devoted to improving outcomes for mothers and babies across our region.

Through heartfelt stories and big-picture context, the video shows why their work matters — because health disparities still affect many in our communities, and real change takes people, systems, and compassion.

“Even now, there are STILL disparities disproportionately affecting birthing people and babies of color, folks who are low income, and certain zip codes.”

We’re deeply grateful to SWMPQIC for trusting us with this project.

Behind the scenes of our Haworth College of Business campaign: editing 68 deliverables across 17 programs took serious organization. 🎬

Here’s how our editor, Gabriel Walker, kept the process efficient with Adobe Productions in Premiere:

“The Haworth College of Business project was a fun logistical puzzle to put together. With 17 programs and four deliverables per program, there were a lot of moving parts. To streamline the process and allow multiple editors to work simultaneously, we set it up as an Adobe Production within Premiere. A Production is essentially a container for several projects at once, which allows shared assets and visibility into who’s in the project at any given time. That setup made it possible to edit everything efficiently while keeping ourselves organized.” – Gabriel Walker, Editor

From our producer’s chair 🎬 — here’s Emma France on what it took to bring this WMU Haworth campaign to life:

“In this collaboration with Haworth College of Business, we created 17 video packages centering on a student from each degree program. In total, we finalized 68 deliverables (102 if we want to count our caption files)!

To help schedule production efficiently, we took a template approach for each video outline. It was important for each story to have unique elements that spotlight the student, while maintaining cohesion across the campaign.

During the pre-pro stages, I lived off of a master spreadsheet and separate calendar to keep all of the moving parts in one spot — things like course schedules, can’t-miss events, and full-time jobs. Authenticity was a crucial element of this campaign, so we were keen on filming events as the students were living them. With the help of a smaller gear package and minimal crew, we built an adaptive production schedule that centered on those milestones and still left room to capture those special filler moments along the way!”

“Overneath Creative has been a great place to jumpstart my career. I was able to get hands-on learning on multiple aspects of the video production industry–I spent much of my internship doing editing, prep, and grip work, all of which was with real clients with real needs. My experience wasn't a simulated experience some get in big corporate internships, I was working in the industry straight up. ” - Gabriel Walker, Editor - Former Intern
