New Work šŸŽ¬āœØ
ZEISS | 100 years in the USA

This was the primary campaign film for that milestone. One piece meant to carry a century of work forward, not just look back.

We blended new footage with archival material to tell the story. A few highlights from the process šŸ‘‡

• Period scenes built on virtual production, including a 1920s New York City and a 1950s science lab with early ZEISS microscopes
• Portraits across industries their work touches every day
• A future-facing final chapter where things get a little more imaginative
• A shoot day at the ZEISS Innovation Center in California, filming real ZEISS staff doing real work that’s actively shaping the future

We use ZEISS lenses all the time and their lenses have been used to make some of the most iconic images ever captured. Films. Science. Space. Everyday life. Being trusted to help tell a piece of that story felt right at home in what we do.

On to the next hundred! šŸ’Æ

This summer, our team spent time in Ohio creating a new recruitment video for the Department of Natural Resources. Natural Resource Officers hold a unique role—part law enforcement, part conservation work—and we were able to see that balance up close.

We crossed the state, filmed in some stunning locations, and talked with current officers about what the job really looks like and the kind of person who thrives in it.

A big shoutout to Zach Noonan, who pulled together footage, archives, and an info outline to build something truly special.

ā€œThe Interrupterā€ might look simple on screen, but there’s more technique behind this spot than you might expect.
Here’s a look behind the scenes as our team, Drive Creative, and Michigan Auto Law brought it to life at Lowing Studios in Grand Rapids.

STOP INTERRUPTING! Steve’s just trying to tell us how great Michigan Auto Law is.

ā€œThe Interrupterā€ is the third spot we created for the Michigan Auto Law team, concepted and written by Drive Creative. The idea is simple… pulling it off inside Lowing Studios in Grand Rapids? Trickier than you may think!

ā€œLunch and Lawyer Talkā€ is our second spot in this campaign with Michigan Auto Law and Drive Creative. The first spot leaned dramatic, but this one shifts into a lighter tone as two women compare their lawyers and the settlements they received.

A big thank you to Roots Brew Shop in Grand Rapids for the perfect coffee shop setting. And to Erika and the Mad Props team for giving our ā€œDisheveled Lawyerā€ office a truly disheveled vibe. The cast from Unique Models and Talent brought great energy to the scene and made the script shine.

Let us know what you think.

Fifteen years ago, we were two kids straight out of college trying to figure out how to turn our skills and passions into something real. We didn’t know if it would work. We just knew we wanted to try.

We worked from living rooms, coffee shops, and anywhere we could plug in a laptop. We traded video services for office space. We bought a recording studio downtown… and eventually sold it to pivot again. We moved to Portage Road. We hauled gear in our cars until we finally bought a production van. We traveled across the world to tell stories we believed in.

The journey has had both ups and downs, but every turn has shaped who we are and what Overneath has become.

Today, 15 years later, we’re creating some of our strongest work yet. We’re seeing real growth. We’re surrounded by a team we’re proud of, and supported by a community that’s been with us through every chapter.

We are grateful for the privilege of doing this... For the people who worked with us, worked for us, took a chance on us, trusted us, challenged us, and cheered us on.

Happy 15th birthday to Overneath. Here’s to the next chapter. šŸ’™
