25 years ago, I was a small child getting ready to go to Otis Montessori in Portage, MI. I was 3 years old. I have a memory of waking up that day and feeling like something was off. The Today Show was on the tv like normal. I recently saw the broadcast for that from 25 years ago, and pinpointed the spot where about I got up from bed and saw the tv in the living room. Moments later, the first tower was hit. What began as a normal morning, soon turned into a national life changing moment for Americans, and many around the world.

I have often been dismissed throughout my life over this event because I was so young. But children are far more apt than we give them credit for. And so many kids like me at that time lost a parent, loved one, or in several cases, their own lives because of this event.

Today I remember those who never came home from this event, and those who helped in whatever way possible to to save lives. May they be remembered with dignity and peace during this 25th anniversary and always.
