🕶️Marvelous (Monday) Morning Minute🕶️

Day 6 of the federal government being shut down...how're you all doing?

Chicago alderperson Jessie Fuentes arrested by masked ICE agents while she was checking on a detainee at a hospital. This is how the encounter went (there's a video of it):

Fuentes: "This is a hospital. Do you have a signed judicial warrant for him? I am asking. I am asking. I did not touch you. I did not touch you," she said as she was handcuffed. "I did not touch you. I asked you if you had a signed judicial warrant for him. It is very simple. It is very simple. That man has constitutional rights. I did not touch you. It is a public space. I am not trespassing. I am asking you do you have a signed judicial warrant?"

Agent who cuffed her: "We told you to leave. You are impeding. Now you are under arrest for impeding."

https://bit.ly/48d8spv As Kalamazoo sees its final days of 80-degree weather this year, Western Michigan University (WMU) students were ready to clean up the last bits of summer litter.

They hit the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail Sunday for the second time this year with trash pickers and garbage bags in hand.

The Alpha Sigma Phi, Kappa Sigma and Sigma Chi fraternities met at Mayors Riverfront Park Sunday afternoon, with a mission of making Kalamazoo's parks into something they could take pride in.

They didn't just find cans and wrappers, but blankets, bicycle tires and more than 60 pounds of scrap metal, all of which found its way to the dumpster.
