Universal Music Group finished its August round of share buybacks at €250 million, bringing its total for the year to €999.2 million ($1.16 billion). The buybacks began at the end of March as an attempt to correct what the board believed was an undervaluation of the stock in relation to the company's performance and potential. UMG sold €403 million ($467 million) of its stake in Spotify to help finance the repurchases, with (as of early August) approximately $1 billion of the stake it reserved for sale still available. The company pledged to share proceeds with its artists per its 2018 policy. https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/umg-has-now-bought-back-e1-billion-of-its-shares-this-year/
