What was shaping up to be an amazing Mother’s Day at the family lake house all went wrong in an instant.

Right before lunch the adults were cleaning up the beach and my second born somehow walked on stray embers from a leaf burn that morning.

My sweet angel. The pain I so desperately wish I could take away.

The what if’s. The shoulda’s. The coulda’s.

The worry, the guilt, the anger and the sadness all taking their turns.

The anchor being - he’s going to be okay. ⚓️

Thankfully we were able to leave the hospital today.

The second photo a painting from the halls of the hospital. I saw it and said “that’s me and my three boys.” 🦢

This whole experience has shined a brighter light on what truly matters. You know what matters- but can easily take it for granted.

Seeing other families in the Pediatric ICU that don’t have discharge papers in sight weighs on my heart.

We are all more lucky than we know. 🙏🏻

Each child pulled a different version of me to the surface—some I didn’t recognize, some I desperately needed.
