Jessica Bowie, 35, was arrested Wednesday by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS. According to the criminal complaint, Bowie surveilled the New York State Capitol at least five times, took dozens of photographs, and told a confidential source she wanted to detonate an explosive hidden in a DoorDash bag while state senators were meeting. Agents say she was given $200 to buy bomb components, including nails intended as shrapnel, at a Home Depot on Aug. 5. The device she ultimately obtained was inert and there is no ongoing threat to the public. She faces up to 20 years in prison.

Comedian Barb said it standing in a Manhattan park, an hour after Luigi Mangione admitted in federal court that he shot and killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Thompson’s family was in the room. Mangione faces life. And Barb — like a lot of people in this city — is holding grief and anger in the same hand, and pointing both at a healthcare system she says failed everybody in that courtroom. Luigi Mangione pleaded guilty today. This is what one of his supporters told me before the hearing.
I spoke with Abril Rios outside Manhattan federal court this morning ahead of the hastily scheduled hearing, where Mangione admitted to stalking and fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024. Sentencing is set for Dec. 18. His attorneys have already moved to toss the separate state murder case on double jeopardy grounds.

🚨 BREAKING: The NYPD inspector who once commanded the Bronx's 46th Precinct has been arrested and suspended without pay.

Jeremy Scheublin, 45, is charged with attempted r**e, sexual abuse, assault and official misconduct after prosecutors say he attacked a female subordinate inside the stationhouse on New Year's Day. He pleaded not guilty.
