30 years ago today, I woke up in the middle of the night to my roommate screaming. That moment changed the way I viewed aspects of my life going forward.

I’ve carried that night with me ever since. I don't think about it alot, but it has truly shaped some of the things that I advocate for such as safety in the workplace.

In Episode 72 of the Constructive Behaviors podcast, I open up about what happened, what it taught me, and why I believe open communication and understanding are the foundation of safer, healthier workplaces.

"This is the book I didn't know I needed!"

Every item that goes into the 14%ers boxes is hand selected. Each item is something that I personally recommend....including this book. Although I LOVE this book and hoped that the 14%ers would as well, I never expected the response that I have received. Subscribers LOVE this book.

Maybe because it is written in short blog form so it's easy to read a chapter each day.
Maybe it's because nearly every chapter provided a new outlook on an old situation for me.
Maybe it's because Dr. Ashley talks like a normal person and puts high level thought concepts into language that everyone can understand.

But most likely...the reason subscribers like this book so much, is because of all three.

Wrapping up Mental Health Awareness month with expert psychologist Dr. Ashley Smith as my guest on the Constructive Behaviors podcast Ep 69. Dr. Ashley breaks down the two main pathways of suicidal ideation; Gradual Despair and Abrupt Crisis to help us realize that it isn't always what we think it is.

She also dives into myths around su***de, the role language plays in promoting compassion around su***de, and she provides practical steps and resources for those wanting to be part of the solution.
