I needed to test out the Blazar Lens Remus and Thypoch Simera-C lenses on the FS5 ii and FX3 and compare them to really understand the different looks they provide so I can pick the right lens for the right project. My friend Anastasiia was kind enough to model for me in both very static more clinical tests as well as put the Remus 50mm to the test on the FS5 ii (and a bit on the FX3) in a more run and gun creative modeling shoot with her awesome dog Rusty, and I put together a short video with her and Rusty primarily on the Remus 50mm and shot on the FS5 ii with a few shots at the end on the FX3 with the Remus.

A fun project I shot with 𝓐𝓾𝓻𝓸𝓻𝓪 𝓡𝓸𝓼𝓮 last November that I recently wrapped up adding the VFX to. This was shot on the Blazar Remus 50mm T2.0 anamorphic lens, shot a bit at T2.8 and mostly at T4.0.

This was one of the most complicated shoots with the most actors and extras on set that I've worked on for many years, but everyone was fantastic and firing on all cylinders. I'm in love with how the footage is looking.

Working on the biggest short film I've directed in quite awhile. It's full of VFX shots, fights, and great character moments. I've only shot a few scenes so far, but the next couple weeks should see the film wrapped for a very tight post-production process and premiere schedule as part of a collection of works in association with ViyaStar Love Your World.

Recently I had the opportunity to shoot Rayann rocking a workout. I wanted to see how my anamorphic manual focus lens setup would work in this sort of environment vs. the usual way I'd shoot a workout with spherical auto focus lenses. Super fun project. Such a fun shoot with the one and only Vanessa! Played around with the Rokinon/Samyang 24mm T1.5 and Canon FL 55mm f1.2 vintage lenses.

I shot most of this at T2 - T5.6 and F2.8 on their respective lenses.

Charisma Davis dancing it out at Kingdom Studios. This was definitely one of the most fun sections to shoot and Charisma really let loose and we had a lot of laughs. If the creative process isn't fun, is it worth doing?

I am often ambivalent about AI, and how it has the potential to negatively affect the photography and filmmaking space. That said, it is a pretty cool and useful tool for conceptualizing and visualizing ideas sometimes. I've got some different horror scripts I'm writing and developing to hopefully shoot in 2025 - and these AI renderings of some of my ideas are honestly pretty cool. The key will be to take the inspiration and make something that's real and tangible with actors, costumes, sets, and special effects - not just to be satisfied with a computer synthesized version.

We were testing out the Rokinon Cine DSX 24mm T1.5 that I've barely ever used despite owning it for years, and the Canon FL 55mm f1.2, which was manufactured from 1968 to 1980 that I've only used a few times. Been using my anamorphic on so many shoots lately using spherical lenses again was interesting.

It's never too late for some Gothic Witch fun. October was an insanely busy month so I didn't end up getting to shoot much for Halloween, but yesterday 𝓐𝓾𝓻𝓸𝓻𝓪 𝓡𝓸𝓼𝓮 and I shot a short video with a gothic fantasy vibe and I'm loving the initial look of the footage.

Be on the lookout over the next few days for other fun concepts we shot yesterday as well involving princesses, knights, and cowboys.
