In the April issue of Lee's Summit City Lifestyle Magazine, we focused our attention on investments. We understand that investing in your health is a priority and when your feet hurt, it effects every aspect of your lifestyle.

Foot care specialist, Dr. Joel Foster is changing the game when it comes to foot and ankle care. In today’s medical world, it’s easy to feel like just another number in the system—rushed appointments, long wait times, and surprise bills seem to be the norm. He’s made it his mission to bring back the personal touch to medicine, putting patients first instead of insurance companies.

“I feel that there are many things that set us apart, including the fact that we are the only direct care foot and ankle clinic in the region,” says Dr. Foster. “We have eliminated all of the insurance headaches. We have up-front costs, so patients know exactly what procedures will cost before we do them, allowing them to make informed decisions. We offer the best of both worlds, whether you have insurance or not.”

A tragic loss for the Lee’s Summit community. A friend, mentor, colleague, neighbor, father, husband, grandfather, or whatever your relationship was to him, it was an experience of love and respect. He will be missed and our hearts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Andy Lock, who launched Summit Hospitality Group and was also known for being the father to quarterback Drew Lock, passed away on Thursday morning.

We approached this issue of Lee’s Summit City Lifestyle from a mindset of not supplying quick fixes to check boxes in the short term but valuing what is sustainable over the long haul. We wanted to provide inspiration for making lasting, realistic, long-term improvements to your physical, emotional and mental health.

We had the pleasure of sharing three local business owners that are truly invested in health and fitness. Becky Norton Suarez (Better Bodies Pilates), Brian Greenwald (Beem Light Sauna Lee's Summit) and Paul Matlock (Matlock Dental Care).

They each provide assistance in uniquely different areas of health but all share an extremely high level of client care that has set them apart in their industries. Their excitement and expertise in their industries along with their compassion for people has set them apart.

Regardless of what you focus on this year, remember, It’s not what you do some days - it’s what you do most days that will lead to a more peaceful, filling and fabulous year.

Calaveras friends and fans!

It is with a mix of sadness and excitement that we announce the closing of Calaveras in downtown Lee’s Summit. We are currently reimagining our wonderful downtown building and will have a new concept to announce soon!

Opening Calaveras just a few doors down from our sister restaurant, Smoke Brewing Company, has been an amazing experience that’s brought with it the joy of serving you, sharing countless memories and building upon this wonderful downtown community. We have cherished every moment and are deeply grateful for your support.

Our final day of service at Calaveras will be Jan. 4, 2025. Until then, we invite you to experience the magic of our pop-up Christmas event, SnowGlobe. Join us for the one last festive celebration, enjoy your favorite dishes and create even more special memories together.

Please know, this is not a goodbye, but a see you soon! In the New Year, we will be unveiling an exciting new restaurant concept in Downtown Lee's Summit. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to embark on a new culinary adventure with us!
