Congratulations to the Oak Park Journalists who placed in the JEMKC Awards this spring! This contest includes nearly 40 schools from the KC metro area, both sides of the state line.

Brian Mayer won the Bill Garrett Excellence in Photojournalism Award. His photography portfolio was named best in the KC metro area.

This year, theater received two Blue Star nominations for Tarzan! A nomination is a huge deal as there were 66 schools involved in the Blue Star program and a nomination is usually the top 6 or 8 among all the participating schools and only a trophy for first place, so the nominations are a huge deal in the theater world!
This year's nominations are:
--Outstanding Hair and Makeup Design - junior Cece Mormino, sophomore Jazzmine Reid, and crew
--Sophomore Rising Star Scholarship Finalist - Jazzmine Reid
Congratulations to these young women on their accomplishments and nominations!

The yearbooks will be distributed during lunches this Friday, May 1st, in the Café. If you bought a yearbook this school year, find the yearbook staff during your lunch in the cafeteria to pick up your yearbook order.
