Shelia, a Kansas City native, is the passionate force behind Gangsta Goodies Kitchen, a culinary platform where love, food, and relationships intertwine. She is the proud Mama of two amazing women Shalea Johnson and Devan Meshelle Johnson and the Gigi to three beautiful grandkids; Heaven Leigh, Christopher Jamal & Messiah Malik.

Armed with a rich educational background from Kansas City Public Schools and Rockhurst University, including a BA in Organizational Leadership an MBA, and a Certification in Nonprofit Management Leadership, Shelia's journey spans various roles across both nonprofit and profit sectors.

Her diverse career path, including stints as a Project Manager, Director of Finance, Events Director, Client Relations Manager, Social Service Director, and Sales professional, has uniquely equipped her for her current roles as Owner, Executive Producer, and Host of Gangsta Goodies Kitchen.

At Gangsta Goodies Kitchen, Shelia orchestrates a unique blend of culinary artistry and community engagement. Through cooking sessions, shared meals, and insightful interviews, Shelia brings together a diverse array of guests ranging from social entrepreneurs to community activists, all contributing to the betterment of Kansas City.

With over 200 episodes produced, Shelia's work has garnered attention from local and national media outlets, earning her nominations for KC's best podcast. Her influence extends beyond the studio, with appearances in food competitions, collaborations with esteemed brands, and community cooking demonstrations. Shelia's journey has also taken her to the Food Network and local networks, further amplifying her message of unity through food.

Ingredients:
1 Can Black Beans (rinsed)
1 Can Garbonza Beans (rinsed)
1 C. Cooked Quiona
1 Zucchini (chopped)
1 Shallot (chopped)
1 Red Bell Pepper (chopped)
4 Garlic Cloves (chopped)
1/2 C. Slivered Almonds
1/4 C. Fresh Basil
1/4 C. Sundried Tomatoes in Oil
1 C. Panko
1 C. Parmesan Cheese
1 C. Liquid from Garbonza Beans

RECIPE: BLACKENED SCALLOPS & SMOKED GOUDA GRITS

Ingredients:
1-2lbs Scallops
3 Slices Bacon (chopped)
1 C. Seafood or Chicken Broth
1/2 C. Heavy Cream
*1 C. Grits
2 Ozs. Smoked Gouda (cut into squares)
4 Tbsp. Butter
2 Tbsp. Grape Seed Oil
Blackened Seasoning (to taste - I start with 1 Tbsp and add more if needed)

Cooking Method:
1. Pat scallops dry with a paper towel
2. Heat cast iron skillet & add chopped bacon, cook until done
3. Remove cooked bacon from skillet and set aside.
4. Add scallops to skillet (do not overlap). Cook for 3 minutes on each side.
5. Remove from heat and set aside.
6. Add broth to skillet, stir and be sure to get all the brown bits from the backon and the scallops. Bring to a soft simmer (this is to deglaze and create the sauce)
7. Add scallops and bacon back to the skillet.
8. Cook grits according to label instructions

Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry Recipe
Ingredients:
1lb Ribeye Steak (sliced into bite-sized pieces)
1/3 C Beef Broth
1/4 C. Soy Sauce
2 Tbsp. Honey
2 Tbsp. Sesame Oil
2 Tbsp. Fresh Ginger (chopped)
3 Cloves Garlic (chopped)
2 Tbsp. Grape Seed Oil (for cooking steak)
1-2 C. Fresh Broccoli
Jasmine Rice
Green Onions (garnish)

Cooking Method:
1. In a large bowl whisk together the beef broth, soy sauce, seasme oil, honey, ginger and garlic. Set aside.
2. Heat grape seed oil in skillet over med-high heat. Add steak and cook, stirring occasionally, until almost cooked through, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from skillet and transfer to a plate.
3. Add broccoli and 1 tbsp water to the pan. Allow to cook for 1-3 minutes.
4. Add steak back to the skillet, mix and add sauce. Allow to simmer for 3-4 minutes allowing the flavors to blend and sauce to thicken a little.
5. Serve over rice
