Gwendolyn White, 57, shot two attorneys, Mary K. Harris and Jeffrey Whitley, outside the old Wake County Courthouse in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Police say White became “belligerent” during a civil court proceeding involving the Rolesville Police Department.

The lawsuit was connected to body-camera footage and the death of White’s mother. After the hearing ended, investigators say White left the courthouse, went to her vehicle, grabbed a gun, then returned and shot two attorneys representing the town of Rolesville outside the courthouse entrance.

The lawsuit alleges that Mayweather believed he was investing in profitable ventures, but claims the funds were improperly diverted or controlled without his full knowledge. He is seeking to recover the money along with additional damages. The case adds to a growing list of high-profile celebrity financial disputes involving investment schemes and failed business partnerships.

Mayweather’s legal team argues the boxing legend relied on promises of huge returns and trusted advisors involved in the deals, while the defendants are expected to challenge the allegations in court.

Floyd Mayweather was legally declared the father of a 4 year old girl in March 2026 and was ordered to pay $933,050 in back child support, along with ongoing monthly payments of $32,850 to the child's mother, Paige Moorehead. A judge granted Moorehead the ability to place a lien of up to $2 million on Mayweather's California properties to guarantee the payments are secured.
