The third-place finish caps a historic season for North Platte. The Panthers won their first district title since 2011 and just the second in program history. North Platte also won its first sectional and quarterfinal games to earn the programβs first state appearance.
βWeβre one of the two teams in Class 3 that can say they ended their season on a win,β said Panthers head coach Braydn Kemper.
Kemper said he hopes the trip to Columbia shows future North Platte teams that the Panthers can make postseason runs.
βAt Mid-Buchanan, I was a player for their first final four. Once we got that one, it opened the door and the program was like, βOh, we can do this.β Then two years later Mid-Buchanan went back,β Kemper said in the postgame press conference. βOne of the things that I think this does is show we can do this.β
North Platte finished the season with a 27-5 (6-1) record.
