Larry Beekman Guitar Studio

Larry Beekman Guitar Studio Welcome to the page of Larry Beekman Guitar Studio I have been teaching guitar and performing in the Kansas City area since 1975.

I have also written several books of guitar arrangements, including:
• "Beatles for Classical Guitar" was published by the Hal Leonard Corp. in 1988, and is still a favorite with finger-style guitarists.
• "Fingerpicking Enya" (Oct., 2009), Hal Leonard Corp.
• "John Lennon for Classical Guitar" (July, 2013), Hal Leonard Corp.
• "How to Play the Acoustic Guitar" (two volumes). These method books

were self published in 2001 and 2003.
• "An International Christmas" (1999). This book includes 40 carols from around the world. There are links to performances of many of the my arrangements and compositions (including several from these books) on this site.

“Hero” got my attention when it was used in the amazing movie “Boyhood”, which chronicles 12 years of a boy’s life in real time. The song was recorded by the group “Family of the Year”, and I think it translated well to solo guitar. I hope you enjoy it.

One big difference between Facebook and YouTube is that while posts on Facebook tend to disappear after a couple of days, you never know when reactions on YouTube will come through. For example, this comment was posted today on an arrangement I uploaded 15 years ago! I have no idea who Edward is, but he made my day and gave me a laugh. The song was “Boadicia”, by Enya, by the way. If you don’t know who Waldorf and Statler are, look them up. They’re hilarious.

Segovia and Les Paul, looking down, absolutely unable to come up with any Waldorf and Statler comments but, "BRAVISSIMO." \m/

"Follow Your Arrow" was a big hit for Kacey Musgraves in 2013. I'm not sure when I first heard it, but when I did I was instantly a fan. This is the first song by Kacey I've arranged for solo guitar. I doubt it will be the last. I hope you enjoy it.

Slowly but surely I might be becoming a "Swifty". Whether or not that's true, this is a good tune and I hope you enjoy it.

Taylor Swift, for classical guitar. For me, music is a very important "invisible string". I hope you enjoy this arrangement.
