This is a heartbreaking situation.

The family of 29-year-old Tasia Fortune is searching for answers after she was found deceased behind an unoccupied property in west Jackson, Mississippi.

The Hinds County Coroner’s Office confirmed that her remains were sent to the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause and circumstances of her death. Jackson police say the investigation is ongoing and have not shared additional information about how she arrived at the property on Road of Remembrance.

Officials have not publicly stated whether criminal activity is suspected, and the incident report has not been released while detectives continue their work. Tasia’s sister told Mississippi Today that she last saw her in July, when Tasia visited relatives in Kentucky.

Investigators have also not confirmed how long she had been at the location before nearby residents contacted authorities. Keeping Tasia’s family and friends in our thoughts as they wait for clarity and justice.
