Wide Awake Films recently partnered with South Carolina 250 to produce a series of short promotional films highlighting the state's rich Revolutionary War history. Just in time for the 250th anniversaries, you can watch these videos for each of the state's eleven tourism regions here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLx9kIKzkTh_qa-WAnvyddQGUzwiF_cHPI&si=CvqULiJaKfm7xioP

We remain most grateful for this ongoing partnership with the State of South Carolina and its 250th commission. Traveling to every corner of the state to capture footage of battlefields, historic sites, homes, and museums was a true joy.

SC250 takes you on a quick tour through the Palmetto State to discover Revolutionary South Carolina.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally learned they were free. That day became known as Juneteenth, a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.

At Wide Awake, it is a profound honor to help tell the stories of Black Americans whose experiences have shaped our nation's history. From stories of enslavement and emancipation to courage, resistance, achievement, and community, these narratives deserve to be told with care and authenticity. We are grateful to the Black actors, historians, crew members, and collaborators who make this work possible. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, talent, and perspective with us, and for the trust you have given us over the years.

Today, we reflect on the history Juneteenth represents and the responsibility we share in preserving and telling these stories for future generations.

Today, June 17, 2026, marks the 251st anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill. We hope you will stop by the National Museum of the United States Army to see the Battle of Bunker Hill presentation, part of the museum's excellent A Call to Arms exhibit. Just recently, this presentation, which projects a map presentation upon a 3D-map table, along with an accompanying video presentation on the back wall was awarded a Gold Telly Award in the Museums category. We produced this for national PBS broadcast last year…
Now it’s finally live on YouTube—and it’s taking off.

In just a few days, it’s already racking up serious views.
This one means a lot to us.

It tells the story of 22 United States Colored Cavalry soldiers—men who escaped slavery, enlisted at Camp Nelson, and were ultimately ambushed and killed near Simpsonville, Kentucky. For years, their story sat buried. This film follows the effort to find them… and finally bring that history back into the light.

Huge credit to the historians, archaeologists, and partners at Camp Nelson National Monument who helped bring this story forward.

We had an incredible team on this—researchers, historians, archaeologists, and a full production crew recreating the world of the 5th USCC with absolute attention to detail.
Proud of the work. Proud of the story.
Give it a watch if you haven’t yet 👇

We’re growing at Wide Awake Films — and we need a couple of sharp people to help us keep up.

We’re currently looking for:

• Motion Designer (After Effects / Adobe Suite — 3D a big plus)
• Post Production Generalist (Premiere-heavy, organized, utility knife type)

We work on museum films, large-scale projections, historical storytelling, and some pretty unique stuff across the country.

If you’re someone who:

takes pride in your work
can move fast without cutting corners
and plays well on a team

—we’d love to take a look. History Nerds with these skills should definitely apply.

These are contract roles (1–6 months to start) with the potential to grow into something more if it’s a fit.

📍 In-studio only (Kansas City)
