Incredible night this week in Brooklyn at the Florentine Films / PBS / WETA screening of The American Revolution — the latest from Ken Burns and his extraordinary team which debuts nationally this Sunday, Nov. 16th on PBS.

Honored that Wide Awake Films was able to contribute recreated footage to the project. Shane and his wife Denise were able to attend. Nights like this remind us why we do what we do… keeping history alive through powerful storytelling.

On this Veterans' Day, we commemorate all who have served our nation in every branch of our armed forces. Wide Awake Films is a company dedicated to sharing the history and memory of all our warriors from the American Revolution to today's conflicts.

For this Veterans' Day 2025, we would like to share this new film, produced for the American Battlefield Trust, featuring Medal of Honor recipient Edward Byers and his visit to the location where Captain Charles Gould of the 5th Vermont Regiment jumped into the Confederate lines at Petersburg - a brave and life-threatening action that also earned a Medal of Honor.

Happy 250th birthday to the United States Marine Corps. Established this day - November 10, 1775 - by the Continental Congress. One of our favorite Marines is Hershel "Woody" Williams. Williams earned the Medal of Honor for his brave actions on Iwo Jima in 1945. Check out this video we produced for the American Battlefield Trust, featuring Woody at the Gettysburg battlefield. This day, and every day, we remember Woody and all the Marines who have served our great nation.

For these past few years, the Illinois/Missouri-based has been at the heart of our local and coastal filming efforts—bringing to life some of the best living history impressions in the country.

From museum exhibits to national television projects, these guys show up ready, squared away, and dedicated to getting it right. Like the Skulker's Mess, Tater Mess and Holmes Brigade before them, they’ve helped make Kansas City a true home base for historical filmmaking.

We couldn’t do it without you boys. Thanks for keeping the past alive—and making it look damn good on camera. 🎥🇺🇸
