So thankful to share a book and author reading at Weatherby Lake for their Champami Mini Library at King Park. Kids and parents loved Tomie Q Barbeque my KC folk tale illustrated by Mary Hendrix. I got to donate a book to the mini outdoor library in the memorial park too! What a beautiful event. Check out the photos.

“We find inspiration everywhere: winter trees, music that thrums our insides, early morning quiet, triggers, whatever the sun or moon or stars or weather happen to be doing at any given moment,” says KC poet Mary Silwance. She’s performing all around town this week! Although this has published in many magazines and poetry collections (sample her poetry at marysilwance.com/published-works), “We Remember Ourselves” is the first full book of her own. It’s brand-new! It came out on January 12 by KC’s Flying Ketchup Press, where she is poetry editor in-residence. | missouriartscouncil.org/featured-artists

Yesterday for Halloween I published a short fiction collection that’s been in the works for several years. I am the editor and designer the stories are amazing. I hope you’ll enjoy this fall treat from me. There is nothing better than a satisfying story. It’s for sale on amazon. Thirteen incredible authors.

"Universe in a Bottle" is a collection of exciting new short fiction that is bigger on the inside. These new voices are a cosmic boom in the psyche; they open new worlds of wonder and delight as they take you to visit a time traveler who knows how much change you have in your pocket, a school girl who alters the family dream machine, more than a few robots who break the rules any way they can, an astronaut without a ship, a space dog who wants to solve mysteries, and a jazz club at the end of the world. Enter into new times, dimensions–expand your own possibilities of this winning, innovative, and satisfying fiction. Edited by Polly Alice McCann, this collection features fourteen exciting authors: Soramimi Hanarejima, Lisa Acerbo, Amrita Bhasin, Jill Bronfman, Matthew Brown, Jordan Carr, Travis Flatt, Lauren Leach-Steffens, Alexandria LaFaye, Matthew Vogt, Mike Hixson, Logan Penna, and Hal Hulan.
