We had a great time fishing Homer Elks Club Winter King Salmon Derby. Lost my dip net and didn't realize until we were fishing so had to gaff salmon. At awards dinner they were doing a drawing for door prizes and we noticed oneof the many items was a nice dipnet and said wouldn't it be crazy if we won that. Wife won it and i won a nice Diawa salmon rod and reel combo. First time fishing this as just found out about it but we will fish it ever year its not a big money deal but has family atmosphere and prizes structured to encourage you to weigh in all size fish(average awards 10% of purse) then every entry gets a door prize ticket so you can win stuff like we did plus they had a good dinner buffet style with pulled prk,wings,burgers, hot dogs and lots of sides.
