❌Hands Off My Land Statement on SQ 832❌
We stand firmly with Oklahoma farmers, ranchers, small business owners, and rural communities.
That’s why we oppose SQ 832.
While we all want Oklahomans to earn a good living, SQ 832 goes far beyond a simple minimum wage increase. This proposal creates long-term uncertainty for the very people who keep rural Oklahoma running.
For family farms and ranches already operating on razor-thin margins, increased labor costs mean higher production costs. For local businesses on Main Street, it means difficult decisions about hiring, expansion, and even staying open. And for consumers, those costs don’t disappear—they show up in higher prices for food, goods, and services.
What concerns us most is that SQ 832 doesn’t stop with one increase. It creates a system where Oklahoma’s minimum wage would continue to rise automatically based on a federal inflation index, removing future decisions from the hands of Oklahoma voters and lawmakers.
Rural Oklahoma is different than downtown Chicago, Los Angeles, or New York. One-size-fits-all policies rarely work for the communities that feed, fuel, and power this country.
Hands Off My Land believes in protecting private property rights, supporting agriculture, strengthening rural economies, and preserving Oklahoma’s affordable way of life.
For those reasons, we encourage Oklahomans to vote NO on SQ 832.
