Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten. Memorial Day is more than a holiday — it is a time to reflect on the heroes who answered the call and laid down their lives for others.

As we gather with family and friends, let us remember the true meaning of this day and pay tribute to those who made our freedom possible.

From all of us at The Kaufman Fire Department, we extend our deepest gratitude to our fallen heroes and their families.

“Freedom isn’t free.”

🇺🇸 We will never forget. 🇺🇸

🚒FIRE TIP FRIDAY! 🚒
🎣Whether you’re spending the weekend fishing at one of our local ponds or enjoying time outdoors with family and friends, the Kaufman Fire Department encourages everyone to practice safe fishing habits while fishing from the bank.

Be aware of slippery edges, keep an eye on changing weather conditions, wear visible clothing, and help protect our natural habitats while enjoying the outdoors.

Preparation can help prevent accidents and keep our community safe.

🚒Be safe. Enjoy nature. Protect our community.

🚨 Fire Tip Friday 🚨

A flat tire on the highway can quickly turn into a dangerous situation.

Before changing a tire, move to a safe location away from traffic. Turn on your hazard lights, engage the parking brake, stay alert, and use reflective devices to help other drivers see you.

✔️ Move to a safe, well-lit area
✔️ Alert other drivers with hazards/flares
✔️ Change your tire only when safe
✔️ Call for roadside assistance if needed

Your Safety Matters.

Today, on International Firefighters’ Day, we proudly recognize the brave members of the Kaufman Fire Department.

Every day, our firefighters put service above self—responding to emergencies, protecting lives and property, and standing ready whenever our community needs them. Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice do not go unnoticed.

We also take a moment to honor those firefighters around the world who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Please join us in thanking our local heroes for all they do to keep Kaufman safe. 🚒🔥

🔥 Fire Tip Friday: Kitchen Safety Edition 🍳

Serve up safety in the kitchen with these important reminders:

• NEVER leave cooking unattended , even for a short time
• Keep anything that can catch fire, like oven mitts, away from the cooking area
• Avoid loose-fitting clothing that could catch fire while cooking
• Establish a “kid-free zone” of at least 3 feet around the stove to prevent burns and injuries

A little awareness goes a long way in preventing kitchen fires. Stay safe and cook smart! 🚒

🚒 Fire Tip Friday: ATV Safety 🚨

ATVs are a great way to enjoy the outdoors, but safety should always come first! Before you ride, keep these important tips in mind:

🔥 Always wear a helmet and protective gear
🔥 Never ride on paved roads—ATVs are designed for off-road use
🔥 Don’t overload your ATV or carry extra passengers unless it’s designed for more than one rider
🔥 Keep a safe speed and stay alert for obstacles
🔥 Never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs

Taking a few precautions can prevent serious injuries and keep your adventures fun and safe. Be smart. Stay safe! 🏞️

Weather Update: We’re Still Not Thawed Yet 🥶

Mother Nature is still calling the shots, so City of Kaufman offices and parks will remain closed on Wednesday, January 28, due to ongoing weather conditions. Essential services, including Police, Fire, and Public Works, will continue to remain operational.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as conditions improve and encourage residents to continue using caution while traveling. Updates will be shared as they become available.

Please stay safe and warm, Kaufman!
