We Met Our Goal: Supporting America’s National Park Rangers
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news: with the launch of Parklands: America’s National Parks and Public Lands by Jacob W. Frank, Gibbs Smith set out to raise funds for the Association of National Park Rangers (ANPR) Ranger Emergency Relief Fund.
We pledged to donate $1 for each of the first 1,000 books sold—and thanks to the support of readers, booksellers, and park lovers everywhere, we met our goal ahead of the August 19 publication date.
This fund helps current and former rangers during times of need, whether facing natural disasters, job loss, or other challenges beyond their control. For us, this effort has been about more than just a book launch. It’s been about giving back to those who dedicate their lives to protecting America’s most treasured landscapes.
As Suzanne Taylor, President and Publisher of Gibbs Smith Book & Gift, says:
“At Gibbs Smith, we believe business should serve the greater good—supporting people, protecting the planet, and growing with a purpose. Our deep love for America’s national parks inspires us daily. Stewardship isn’t just our responsibility, it’s our legacy.”
Author Jacob W. Frank, who has spent his career in the ranger community, echoed that sentiment:
“This book is a tribute to our public lands, which wouldn’t exist as they do without the generations of rangers who’ve protected them. I’m proud to give back to the community that shaped me.”
We’re grateful to everyone who joined us in reaching this milestone and we invite you to keep the momentum going. You can continue to support the Ranger Emergency Relief Fund directly at www.anpr.org/donate.
Here’s to the rangers who safeguard our wild places, and to the readers who help us honor them.
