Grand Island police are mourning the loss of K9 Cello, who died after being struck by a vehicle while off duty. Cello had served with the department since August 2024.

K9 Cello served with the Grand Island Police Department since August 2024 and was named in honor of a late investigator.

An unexpected mammogram led to a breast cancer diagnosis for Danita Jones of Smith Center, Kansas. Now receiving care at the Kearney Cancer Center, she's using Breast Cancer Awareness Month to encourage women to pay attention to their health and be involved in treatment decisions.
