Music has historically been proven to be a way for urban youth, especially those in underserved communities, to express themselves in a way that they can feel “seen”. With all of this artistic talent, though, most of these creators lack the understanding of marketing, delayed gratification, and the process of earning income from their work.
From July 6 until August 20 we will create an environment in Springfield Massachusetts where youth between the ages of 13 through 21 could learn the process of recording and releasing music. They will also have the opportunity to create a song, place it on a compilation project, and have a live performance at the end of the program with an established music artist.
