Lone Star Flight Museum receives Space Shuttle Trainer from NASA JSC

Lone Star Flight Museum has received a huge delivery from famed "Building 9" at NASA's Johnson Space Center in the form of one of three Space Shuttle Crew Cabin Trainers.

The full-scale replica is an exact reproduction of an operational Shuttle Crew Cabin, down to the last switch. It joins the Space Shuttle "Motion Base" Flight Simulator that has been part of the LSFM collection six months ago. For 35 years, these trainer assets were used by every shuttle astronaut.

LSFM President and CEO, Doug Owens, said that the new acquisitions help the museum tell a more complete story of the Shuttle Era and the training that was required in that program.

National Night Out brings communities together with city staff and first responders

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime/drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

This year's festivities are set for Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

It is intended to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are invested in the unity and quality of their communities. Groups organize block parties or cookouts and are visited by local emergency services and city dignitaries.

The Nassau Bay Police Department, the Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department, Nassau Bay EMS and City staff will make their rounds to visit each registered event location. We want to bring the parties to the neighborhoods so there is a better opportunity for residents to meet those that live next to them. This also allows the City's first responders more time to spend visiting with the residents by going to each registered block party.

To register, go to www.nassaubay.com/nno and fill out the Block Registration Form. Registration deadline is Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

Two Houston businesses head to the Moon at Space Center Houston

Two Houston businesses will head to the Moon together by formalizing a first-of-its-kind commercial space industry agreement.

Aegis Aerospace is extending its popular Space Testing as a Service (STaaS) from Earth orbit to the Moon by developing the Space Science & Technology Evaluation Facility (SSTEF).

The contract signed Wednesday (6/1/2022) will allow Intuitive Machines to deliver an Aegis Aerospace test bed to the moon in 2025. The test bed called SSTEF will be the very first woman owned facility in space as well as the first hispanic owned facility in space.

It is designed to allow experimenters and researchers to conduct science on the Moon.

President & CEO of Aegis Aerospace, Inc. Mark Gittleman said they chose to work with Intuitive Machines because they are - in his opinion - the most credible business working on lunar landers.

President & CEO of Intuitive Machines LLC Steve Altemus said the partnership with Aegis Aerospace came from them [Intuitive Machines] being a private business and as they advance into space, they need to know the lunar environment. He said when Gittleman came to him with the idea of this facility, it was only “natural” to agree to working with his company.

Gittleman talked about the environment on the moon and how the general public might not know much about it. He talked about the robotic landers from Intuitive Machines that are packed with experiments that will help them learn how people could live or stay on the Moon for an extended period of time.

Gittleman said he believes that over the next two decades, these business deals will happen more and this idea will “explode.”
