So close to getting the windows and doors all framed with new to us old wood and staining them. Unfortunately it’s darker than the kitchen cabinets. Well we will make do.
It sure is making the house feel like a home now. Soon we will do the baseboards nd the crown moldings. ♻️♻️♻️

2 trees fell in the road and the city of Kemp came and moved them into the ditch. Then we lost 1 dead tree nd another live tree in the. Backyard across the gravel road behind our house. My neighbors cut it up some. But they were still too heavy for me.
After a couple days the City of Kemp came by and cut up the trees and took them away for me. Thank you Kemp for help out. We appreciate y’all

This is the front and side of my house. My front rain chain I different from the backyard. However the winds picked up and drenched me. So I rain into the house. And could hear the tree in the backyard breaking.

I love my backyard rain chains that drain into 50 gallon rain barrels. It’s gonna be a dry summer. So I’m storing water when I need to water my flowers.

Kitchen backsplash finally got picked out and installed. Just need to be grouted then the backsplash will be done.
Will still need to put the little bit of baseboard in the kitchen and the trim around the window then the kitchen will be done. I’ve got butterflies in my stomach as it’s so close to being completed.

Slowly getting things finished up. Got the whirlpool bath all tiled up with the steps and the little bench next to it. Now just to get a handle for the area for the motor/pump for the tub and that will be done.
We still need to put the baseboard down and get the storage area above the washer/dryer done. We’re going to use some old doors and make it a slider door to block off the storage up there.
Also need to put another door on the storage area above the hot water tank.
Then also put door molding around the actual bathroom door and the doors for the storage areas.

Last weekend we found someone selling some old school window trim with the square corner pieces with round circle design...

Last weekend we found someone selling some old school window trim with the square corner pieces with round circle design. It’s still dusty and not cleaned up at all. It’s pretty close to our cabinet color. Don’t think we will strip them. Maybe just put some fresh shellac or polyurethane to give it that shine we like. And find our marble slab for the windowsill.

After 5 years of just drywall we finally painted the kitchen. We then we waited another year to figure out our backsplash. Believe it or not we actually bought the tiles from . If you know is us yes we I knew y’all are shocked we bought something for the house at a store. However, we found them all on clearance and discontinued. The area to the right of the stove has all the tiles up as high as we want. We actually came out about 2 boxes short. I was able to find the exact same grey tile clearanced even more. Thank God!!! 😮‍💨 They should be here next week.
At least you can see the before, during and almost after.

After 8 yrs of having this ugly beam between the family room and kitchen from where the wall was taken out. We now have it boxed in the way we envisioned.
Now all we need to do is stain it and putting shellac or varnish on it to give it that old vintage look.
Now family can come over and my house and it won’t look so much in disarray or j***y being in renovation mode for the past 8 years.

What a crazy couple weeks it’s been.
We went last weekend to rain, freezing rain to sleet that was just insane and closed down schools for almost a week and most neighborhood roads for a good week.
It took a good week for our roof to thaw off.
From the beginning January 24th to the last day is sleet on the roof February 3 when the last finally melted off.
