Life on the Kenai is a radio show every Wednesday at 11am - 12pm on KSRM 920AM or 92.5FM and hosted by Ryan Kapp and Sara Erickson. Ryan and Sara are long time friends and Soldotna residents, as well as fellow 1988 high school graduates. Life on the Kenai is all about talking with local residents, schools, and business owners about whats happening in our communities, and keeping everyone informed

on the events and opportunities available in our area. We learned about its origins, awards, sponsoring and participating and everything else involved in what's become and signature event here on the Kenai!!!!

Again its this Saturday August 20th from noon till 4 at the Kenai Park Strip.

Life on the Kenai August 12th!!

Me, Ryan and Samantha Springer at the controls talking about the past week as well as the Arctic Thunder Airshow and Open House at JBER that Ryan and I attended. Great conversation for sure!!!

The at the bottom of the hour we were joined by Janice Nightingale with Hospice of the Central Peninsula. She covered all the various fundraisers and the resources they offer to folks in our community. Valuable info to know!!

Wow!! An absolutely out of this world show on Life on the Kenai today!!! Literally!!!

Today we Tess Caswell! She's a NASA Extravehicular Flight Controller and Lead Capsule Communicator from right here in Soldotna.

We learned all about her humble beginnings from a small cabin just south of Soldotna, to her pursuit of an engineering degree from UAA Fairbanks, then eventually her role at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

So much ground covered talking about all things NASA and the recent Artemis mission around the moon. Her role in mission control is "CAPCOM" and her ability to speak clearly and to the point was on display in the studio today.

Sam, Ryan and I with my cousin Rex Shields (son of Lisa Wright) cover the ups and downs during really the busiest month of the year for tourists and residents here on the central Kenai.

Life on the Kenai yesterday July 15th and man it was a great show!!!

Samantha Springer and I hosted Eric Watkins from Echo Lake Meats and Dalton Johnson with the Southern Peninsula Abate organization.

Eric talked about all the improvements he's made to Echo Lake Meats (and you can see it!!) opening a new location, expanding his sales items, flavors he's added to meat sticks and Echo Lake cheese and his new food truck!! He also talked about the vending machines he has scattered throughout the Peninsula!! Its impressive!!

Dalton talked about the Abate organization and how his family has embraced it and is now hosting the 7th annual Abate rally on the Johnson property about 1.5 miles down Swanson River on the right.

So much going on out there at that event but the big feature will be the Quilts of Valor presentation to around 50 vets at 330 Saturday. What an incredible aspect to this rally!! Very very emotional.

Don/Jill and family along with the Abate crew do a great job of putting this together.

July 8th Life on the Kenai!!

With Ryan out of town, I sat in for him.

Samantha Springer and I welcomed the fine folks from Yute Air!!

Jason Brown and Corenia Burgess provided all sorts of information regarding Yute and it's commuter endeavors here in Soldotna and in Western Alaska.

Operating envelope, aircraft, employees, opportunities, freight, future plans...we learned alot about a great Alaskan company!!!
