No Strings Attached to perform in Kennebunk

KENNEBUNK — Community string ensemble “No Strings Attached” invites the public to party like it’s 1725 with a concert of light favorites from the Baroque period’s greatest composers.

Enjoy selections from Bach, Handel, Rameau and more — even Pachelbel’s greatest hit. Concert is indoors, Sunday, Aug. 10, at 3 p.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, corner of Storer and Lord Street in Kennebunk, Maine.

Audience members are encouraged to bring a donation for Community Outreach Services (COS), which provides help with food, fuel and other needs in the Kennebunks. For more information on COS, visit coskennebunks.org.

No Strings Attached is an informal orchestral ensemble for violin, viola, cello and double bass whose members enjoy playing — and sharing — great music simply for the fun and joy of it.

The group is led by Pamela Doughy, a Portland Symphony Orchestra violist from 1978 to 2022.

WELLS — The 14th annual "Woodies in the Cove" Car Show returns Saturday, Aug. 9, bringing vintage charm and classic craftsmanship to Route 1.

Sponsored by the Historical Society of Wells and Ogunquit, the beloved showcase features original Woodies from the 1920s through the 1950s—making it one of the largest Woodie gatherings on the East Coast.

Held next to McDonald’s at 974 Post Road, the show runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to the public. A rolling parade of cars will follow, cruising from Wells through Ogunquit into Perkins Cove from 2–3 p.m.

The event is a major fundraiser for the Historical Society, and trophies will be awarded. Vehicle registration is limited to Woodies, with a few invited high-end and unique entries. Interested participants may contact coordinator Sonny Perkins at [email protected].
