Brick Store Museum to host Annual Members Meeting

KENNEBUNK — The Brick Store Museum will welcome members and community supporters on Wednesday, June 10, at 5 p.m. for its Annual Members Meeting, an evening that will blend organizational updates, historical storytelling, and the debut of a new exhibition.

The program begins with a brief business meeting outlining the museum’s accomplishments over the past year and upcoming initiatives. Attendees will then hear a keynote presentation, "Shoulder to Shoulder: Uncovering Free and Enslaved Blacks Who Served in the Revolution," delivered by historians Vana Carmona and Kathy Ostrander Roberts. Their research highlights the lives of Black individuals — both free and enslaved — who served during the American Revolution, with a focus on stories from Wells, Ogunquit, and Kennebunk. The speakers will also discuss the archival methods used to recover histories often absent from traditional narratives.

Following the presentation, members will be among the first to explore the museum’s new exhibition, "From Many, One: Results of Revolution." A reception catered by Las Olas, featuring a custom taco bar, will close out the evening.

Museum members may RSVP at brickstoremuseum.org/calendar.
