The first fruits- er, fruit- of my labor! It was delicious. And it only took me back the cost of the plants, the potting soil, and the big pot for my deck. And then of course the labor part- the weekly fertilizer, the careful watering, the dry leaf plucking and the encouraging talks. Worth it? Oh yes, yes of COURSE..... 🤨 (maybe I'll even get a second one!) 🍓😅

In honor of "World Bicycle Day" - Bicycles were called "tools of the devil" in the past due to concerns about their impact on physical health- especially women’s. The problems of whether women should “be allowed” to ride, how they should ride, and in what clothes and with whom they should ride, occupied many newspaper columns. Should they accept help from unknown gentlemen (or even ordinary men) when broken down? Should ladies ride in front, and be allowed to steer, on a tandem? Who went first down a hill? Omg…..
Up till 1893 doctors had maintained that bicycling was a notorious cause of illness. The medical profession worried deeply about “bicycle walk”, “bicycle heart”, or, most dreaded of all, “kyphosis bicyclistarum.” Dr. G. Herschell's book, “The Bicycle Cause of Heart Disease” was published in London in 1895.
Sabbath breaking and nonattendance in church increased markedly, and the powers that be blamed it on the “sinful joys” of riding a bike!

Hummingbirds can indeed fly backwards, and it is a natural movement for them. They fly backwards to perfectly position themselves when feeding on nectar, to avoid obstacles more nimbly, and to remain in one spot like bees among other insects. Moreover, Hummingbirds can fly in any direction they desire, including upside down, and simply put, this is because of the way they flap their wings.
