UPDATE: HIGH-RISK S*X OFFENDER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ONE DAY AFTER RELEASE

UPDATE — September 2, 2026: Jacob M. Johnson is back in custody at the Kenosha County Jail following his arrest Wednesday morning for an alleged violation of his extended supervision.

According to the Kenosha Police Department, officers monitoring Johnson observed a violation of his extended supervision and immediately notified the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. DOC subsequently issued a warrant for Johnson's arrest.

Kenosha Police officers arrested Johnson without incident at approximately 10 a.m. in the 6400 block of 57th Avenue. His location was verified by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections through GPS monitoring.

Johnson was confirmed to be in custody at the Kenosha County Jail as of approximately 10:58 a.m.

Police emphasized that the extended supervision violation does not involve a new crime against any person.

Johnson had been scheduled for release from prison on September 1, just one day before his arrest.

ORIGINAL STORY

The Kenosha Police Department notified the community that convicted s*x offender Jacob M. Johnson, 33, was scheduled to be released from prison on September 1, 2026. Johnson's criminal history resulted in a classification indicating a high potential to reoffend.

Johnson has previous convictions for second-degree s*xual assault/use of force, fourth-degree s*xual assault, and suffocation/strangulation.

According to KPD, Johnson is a lifetime registrant with the Wisconsin S*x Offender Registration Program and was to be subject to GPS electronic monitoring following his release.

Johnson had provided the Wisconsin Department of Corrections with two addresses as part of his proposed residence plan:

• 6200 block of 57th Avenue, Kenosha
• 1400 block of 73rd Street, Kenosha

Johnson is described as a WHITE MALE, 6 feet 3 inches tall and approximately 200 pounds, with brown hair, hazel eyes and a scar on his left wrist.

KPD previously emphasized that the department has no authority or influence over the release or placement of s*x offenders in the community.

Police also reminded residents that the information was released for public safety and awareness and must not be used to threaten, intimidate or harass Johnson.

KENOSHA, Wis. — September 2, 2026 — Jacob Johnson is currently in custody at the Kenosha County Jail following his arrest earlier today as of approximately 10:58 a.m.

Kenosha Police Officers monitoring Johnson observed a violation of his extended supervision. This information was immediately relayed to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, which issued a warrant for his arrest.

Kenosha Police Officers executed the arrest without incident in the 6400 block of 57th Avenue at approximately 10:00 a.m. His location was verified by D.O.C. via GPS monitoring.

The extended supervision violation does not involve a new crime against any person(s).
